COACHING OPPORTUNITIES

Do you have a fun, outgoing, and compassionate personality?
Are you driven to achieve goals and get satisfaction in helping others achieve theirs?
Are you able to motivate and inspire youth of different ages to achieve their greatest potential?
Are you interested in becoming a coach or instructor or know someone who might?

We are looking for people with the above qualities that want to keep learning with us and also share their own experiences to help grow our programs and help all our athletes be successful on and off the court.  Sure... it probably would be a bit helpful... but you don't need to be a former Olympic volleyball player or the High School all-star/MVP.  Just like playing a sport, coaching a sport is a skill that requires training, practice, mentoring, dedication, and life-long learning.

Not everyone can work with a bunch of noisy 8 year olds while some can't work with 'snooty' teenagers a foot taller then them - either group can be intimidating and have its own challenges.  We go over what to expect as a coach/instructor in our different programs to ensure you are starting at a level you are confident and comfortable with and then be able to grow into more challenging roles.  Keep in mind however, as with all of our Phoenix Volleyball instructors/coaches, we might ask for help with various programs including our camps, academy, leagues, or with our competitive club teams.

We are planning on having clinics for all our coaches to learn, provide input, refine, and re-learn what, why, and how we teach our athletes.  Our athletes can only be as successful as our coaches and we want to build and grow our coaching program to be the best.

ASSISTANT CLUB COACHES - Girls 13U/14U/15U

** We do accept girls 15-17 years of age on or before January 1, 2024 that would act as a 'Team Assistant'. This is a volunteer role and is for anyone interested in learning about becoming a coach and also can be used as volunteer experience as well. You should have at least 1 season of school or club playing experience.**

Assistant Coaches with Phoenix Volleyball Club must be at least 18 years of age on or before January 1, 2024 and must have prior coaching or playing experience at JV/Varsity, club, or university level. You would be expected to attend practices and as many local tournaments as possible while assisting the Head Coach. The goal for assistant coaches is to be able to gain the confidence and skills to transition into a future Head Coach position. Assistant coaches are not required to attend travel tournaments but are expected to attend and help at club camps and tryouts.

As with all staff directly involved with youth, our head coaches are required to obtain certain background checks and complete some simple online courses in respect to ensuring the safety and well being of program participants. Coaches are also required by Volleyball Canada/Sport Manitoba to complete certain courses/workshops over time and as they progress in age class and in order to maintain their coaching eligibility at Provincial and National tournaments. These are all very simple to complete and we provide any help necessary.

Including a base honorarium and travel expenses, we provide the most complete and generous compensation packages for coaches in the province.

Our coaches mentor and share knowledge and experience with each other to become confident and successful and our club also provides ongoing mentorship, guidance, and support to our coaching staff. We understand that there is always something new to learn and continually seek opportunities for improvement not only for ourselves as coaches but also as mentors and role models for our athletes.
