** We do accept girls/boys 15-17 years of age on or before January 1, 2025 that would act as a 'Team Assistant' on a younger team. It is a volunteer role and is for anyone interested in learning about becoming a coach and also can be used as volunteer experience as well. You should have at least 1 season of school or club playing experience.**
Head Coaches are recommended to have a minimum two years prior coaching experience and also prior playing experience at varsity, club, or university level. You would be expected to attend all team tournaments and lead all team practices while mentoring and utilizing any Assistant Coaches.
Assistant Coaches are recommended to have a minimum two years playing experience at club or university level. The goal for Assistant Coaches is to be able to gain the confidence and skills necessary to transition into a future Head Coach position. Like Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches are expected to attend and help at club camps and tryouts.
As with all staff directly involved with youth, our coaches must obtain the minimum certification equirements as specified by Volleyball Manitoba. This may include certain background checks and completion of some simple online courses in respect to ensuring the safety and well being of program participants. Coaches are also required by Volleyball Canada/Sport Manitoba to complete certain courses/workshops over time and as they progress in age class and in order to maintain their coaching eligibility at Provincial and National tournaments. These are all very simple to complete and we provide any help necessary.
Including a base honorarium, travel expenses, and certification expenses, Phoenix Volleyball Club provides our coaches the most complete and generous compensation package in the province.
Our coaches mentor and share knowledge and experience with each other to become confident and successful in reaching our teams and club goals. We provide ongoing mentorship, guidance, and support to our coaching staff. We understand that there is always something new to learn and continually seek opportunities for improvement not only for ourselves as coaches but also as mentors and role models for our athletes.

Phoenix Volleyball Academy is growing and we are looking for outgoing and motivating instructors to fill our current demand and future expansion.
We are currently seeking a Head Instructor for our Volleyball Academy program for the upcoming Fall , Winter, and Spring sessions. These evening weekly sessions are generally for youth between the ages of 12-15 years and take place over 8-9 weeks.
As a Volleyball Academy Head Instructor, you will lead and run drills that develop and improve participants volleyball skills in a disciplined but positive, motivating, and fun environment. Working in cooperation, you will also direct and guide Assistant Instructors on hand to help with setup and running of the program as necessary. You are expected to arrive early to ensure gym safety, the proper setup of nets, and our provided equipment (volleyballs, carts, etc). You are responsible to bring provided equipment to and from each session and therefore should have appropriate and reliable transportation.
Head Instructors must be at least 18 years of age on or before program start and should have some playing or coaching experience. As with all staff directly involved with youth, our coaches and instructors are required, depending on age, to obtain certain screening checks and complete some simple online courses in respect to the safety and well being of program participants.
New instructors will be guided on our methods for teaching proper skill mechanics along with the various drills and games we use. Lesson plans will also be provided when required and we encourage instructors to research and incorporate their own games or drills that help with skill development.
